How to advertise crypto without a ban

Get the certification the platform asks for, keep the ad to the product rather than the return, and run more than one properly owned account on a single campaign. X is the platform that fits crypto, finance and technology brands best in our own matrix.

Crypto advertising is not closed. It is gated, and the gate is paperwork rather than persuasion. Exchanges and token projects that get refused usually skipped the certification step entirely, or passed it and then wrote an advertisement about returns, which is the one subject every financial advertising policy is written to catch.

What certification does each platform want?

Each of the large platforms runs its own financial products certification, tied to the country you target and the licence you hold there. Without it the ad is refused before anyone reads the creative.

PlatformWhat it asks forWhat Grey Manager sets up
Googlefinancial products certification for the target country, matching business verificationthe certification file, verified business details, ads written to the policy
Metaadvertiser verification and written permission for the product categoryverified accounts in the advertiser’s own name, product led creative
Xverified advertiser details and category clearancethe account, the clearance and the campaign structure
ChatGPT adsan eligible legal entity and a business verification through the Ads Managerthe entity check first, then the account and the campaigns

None of that is exotic. It is the same evidence a bank asks for, submitted in the advertiser’s own name, and the reason it matters is that a mismatch between the registered business and the ad account is treated as false verification rather than as an administrative slip.

What crypto claims are rejected?

Anything about return, yield, guaranteed gain, price prediction or wealth. Descriptions of the exchange, the token, the custody model, the fees and the supported assets are ordinarily fine.

The refused version is the one every founder writes first. It names a percentage, a multiple, a timeframe, or a lifestyle. The approved version reads like a product page: what the platform does, who it is for, which assets it lists, what it charges, and where it is licensed. Urgency language belongs to the refused half as well, because a countdown attached to a financial product is what the policies call pressure.

Put the licence, the company name and the risk language on the landing page too. The page is reviewed with the ad, and a clean ad pointing at a page promising returns is refused on the page.

Why does X suit crypto brands?

Because the audience for exchanges, tokens, finance and technology is already there and the creative format matches how that audience reads. In our own platform matrix, X is the natural home for crypto and technology brands, in the way Meta is for consumer goods.

That does not make it the only channel. Google carries the high intent searches for an exchange or a wallet, ChatGPT ads put you under the answer when someone asks an assistant which exchange lists an asset, and search and AI citations carry the long tail that paid channels refuse. The plan you receive before signing says which combination is realistic for your licence and your countries, and ads automation then runs it, with ChatGPT ads added where the entity qualifies.

Two neighbouring verticals run on the same certification logic and are worth reading next: gambling, licensed or not and, for the claim discipline in its purest form, supplements.

If your certification is refused or your account is held, book a call and you get the written plan before anything is signed. Retainers are on pricing, and the rest of these questions sit on the answers hub.

  • We do not promise a crypto ad account will never be restricted. We build each ad from the platform's policy and run multiple ad accounts on one campaign so a single restriction cannot stop it.
